(Rent the Runway) March 2017 Review +Le Tote: I Got the Winter Blues!

Looking in my closet, everything is either black or brown.  Sometimes I’ll mix it up and by tan.  For my latest clothes rentals, I wanted to focus on adding a little color to the mix.  Now, I didn’t go all crazy!  I need to step into this gradually, so look for the evolution over the next few months.

Check out some of the outfits that I’ve been wearing this month.  Let me know what you think!

Lysse Printed Floral Pants (LT).  Retail: $88

Summer and Sage Cold Shoulder Sweater (LT). Retail: $72

This outfit was really fun to wear! The pants are really cute with the textured fabric, and are extremely comfortable. The turtleneck top is pretty basic, but is on trend with the cut out shoulders. I added the gray booties from my closet.  I wore this outfit to the Philadelphia Craft Beer Festival. It’s very cold out today, but I was warm and comfy with these rental items from Le Tote.  I would definitely rent these pieces again.

Derek Lam Vivid Blue Blouse (RTW).  Retail: $1150

Love, Love, LOVE this cape blouse that I rented from Rent the Runway!  I wore the top over black jeans to The Bodyguard – The Musical (the play was ok, but Deborah Cox really did Whitney Houston justice with her great singng!).  The top is high in front and low in back.  I did spend a lot of the nigth pulling the front down because my belly kept showing – oops!  The next time, I’ll wear a camisole underneath.  Also, you can see the pleats on the back, which adds sophistication to the blouse. I would love to own this if it didn’t cost so much!

Tanya Taylor Black Nicolette Dress (RTW).  Retail: $695

House of Harlow 1960 Square Pendant Necklace (LT). Retail: $52

This dress is too cute! The embroidered flower detail at the bottom and on the sleeves add lots of color and highlights the quality of the dress. The neckline is a little low, but I was able to get away wearing it into work. The sleeves come down to the hemline… they were way too long.  I had to pin them up.  Otherwise, the dress fit fine and weas very comfortable to wear.  I received so many complements on this one!  I added the purple necklace that I rented from Le Tote.

Carven Floral Printed Skirt (RTW).  Retail: $490

This skirt from Carven was interesting.  I really liked the floral print — it’s hard to see here, but there are lavendar accects around the flowers. The skirt is one piece, but there is the frilly slip underneath the printed overlay. I dressed the skirt down and wore to work with platform sneakers and black blazer.  The only thing I didn’t like is the overlay kept riding up in the back and the skirt looked uneven. In the end, the outfit was perfect for drinks after dinner with the team!

Proenza Schouler Printed Vines Dress (RTW).  Retail: $1275

Kendra Scott Sloan Necklace in Gold (RB). Retail: $126

Laundry by Shelli Segal Striped Hinge Bracelet (LT). Retail $55

What a quality dress this is!  I felt so special wearing this to work and got lots of complements! The dress has the illusion of two pieces, but it’s not. The top is sweater material and the bottom is flowing silk.  The dress has nice criss-cross interlacing detail at the mid-section, and striped bordering at the bottom. It’s hard to see here, but there are yellow vines throughout the bottom printed part of the dress.  Definitely a repeat rental!
